We have a week of exciting workshops prepared for dancers, actors, singers, musical theatre talent. You do not need to be a student at Utah COPA to join in the fun. Wednesday, May 10th

Creative Dance with Tyne Crockett
Tyne Crockett began her dance career studying ballet, jazz and contemporary through local studios and summer intensive workshops in Utah and California. She continued her dance education at Utah Valley University, majoring in Modern Dance. There, she was a member of the nationally ranked UVU Dance Team. Tyne served as Choreographer for Nebo School District for 10 years, where she choreographed 10 full musicals, as well as the Director of the Jazz Department at Academy of Ballet for 4 years, where she choreographed over 30 original pieces. In 2014, Tyne furthered her dance career by teaming with Karen Jensen of BYU and founded the Utah Dance Film Festival, where she currently serves as Director. She also founded Downtown Provo’s event, MOVE: A 24-Hour Film Competition and Salt Lake City’s newest dance workshop series, ‘Action,’ premiering in 2017. Her freelance choreography is featured in many dance films, music videos, and musical theater productions throughout Utah, including SCERA productions in Orem. Choreography credits include: Thoroughly Modern Millie, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, High School Musical Jr., Anything Goes, My Favorite Year, Hello, Dolly!, Hazy (film), Erosion (film), and Footloose: The Musical. Recent performing credits include Ensemble in Mary Poppins and Francesca in West Side Story, both at SCERA. Tyne has a passion for teaching and assisting students to find the true artist within.

Parent Meeting: Please note that we will hold two parent meetings during the workshops to review the curriculum and opportunities that come with the Utah COPA Dance Company programs. You may attend either meeting. Meeting One: 4:00 to 5:00

Jazz Dance Instructor, Tyne Crockett: began her dance career studying ballet, jazz and contemporary through local studios and summer intensive workshops in Utah and California. She continued her dance education at Utah Valley University, majoring in Modern Dance. There, she was a member of the nationally ranked UVU Dance Team. In 2007, she completed a Disney College Program, at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL, in the Entertainment Department. There she was cast in the Power Ranger street show and the ‘Celebrate the Season’ Castle show. Tyne served as Choreographer for Nebo School District for 10 years, where she choreographed 10 full musicals, as well as the Director of the Jazz Department at Academy of Ballet for 4 years, where she choreographed over 30 original pieces. Tyne was Director of Athena Dance Company in Orem, Utah, where she had 2 original pieces filmed and entered in dance film festivals throughout the West, one being selected for Honorable Mention. This led to further career ambitions in dance film and in 2014, she teamed with Karen Jensen of BYU and founded the Utah Dance Film Festival, where she currently serves as Director. She also founded Downtown Provo’s event, MOVE: A 24-Hour Film Competition and Salt Lake City’s newest dance workshop series, ‘Action,’ premiering in 2017. Hip Hop Dance Instructor, Jennifer Jenkins: Jen started dancing at a young age studying hip hop, jazz, and ballet at Collet’s Studio. While serving as president of her high school drill team, Jen discovered her love of teaching and choreography. She went on to dance in college as a member of the SLCC dance team. Jen has years of teaching experience and enjoys sharing her talents with all her students. Over the last 10 years, Jen has been hired by various studios, drill teams, and cheer squads for choreogrpahy. She is a well sought after hip hop teacher and choreographer with many 1st place and overall high point awards.

Princess & Pirates with DeLayne Dayton
Delayne has a passion for music and theater. She received her BA from BYU in Family Science with a minor in Music. She has taught piano for 10 years and directed the Dayton Singer’s Company performing group since 2008. DeLayne loves being a part of our great community theaters. She has performed at the Hale Center Theater in Orem and the Scera. Her performing credits are: Pirates of Penzance, Oliver, Beauty and the Beast, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Disco Inferno, Funny Girl, and most recently the enjoyable part of Miss Hannigan in Annie. DeLayne loves performing with her children and loves being a wife to husband, Brendon, and mother to Jaxson, Brinley, Bailey, Bridger, Olivia, and Millie.

Vocal Audition Workshop with Summer Interior
Summer Interior received her BFA in Music Dance Theatre from BYU in 2005. She has spent the last five years working primarily in Chicago, where she made her 2007 debut as Nessarose in the 1st National sit-down production of WICKED. Other favorite roles include: Charity in SWEET CHARITY (2008 Chicago’s Jefferson Award: Best Actress in a Musical,) Clara in THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA (2009 Chicago’s Jefferson Award: Best Supporting Actress in a Musical,) Belle in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Tuacahn,) Snow in Disney Entertainment’s SNOW WHITE: AN ENCHANTED MUSICAL (LA,) Amneris in AIDA (West Valley Hale,) Brooke in NOISES OFF (Cleveland Playhouse/ Maltz Jupiter FL,) Yum Yum in HOT MIKADO (Chicago,) Evelyn Nesbit in RAGTIME (2010 Chicago’s Jefferson Award: Best Large Musical,) Gabriella in Disney’s HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL (Chicago,) and Jenny in FUNNY GIRL (Robert Redford’s Sundance Theatre). – Summer has also appeared in such films as: Esther and the King (Esther,) Passage to Zarahemla (Kerra,) and Beauty and the Beast: A Latter-day Tale (Belle). She has taught and choreographed throughout the country and LOVES it! She is thrilled to have returned to Utah to spend time with family and to teach.
